Relaxing Health Videos

As the world descends into unknown Lovecraftian horrors, a doctor finds himself battling the patients he is trying to save. https://www.untoldpodcast.com/home/untold-podcast-89-apocalypse-medicine

Apocalypse Medicine

A Puerto Rican engineering student battles Multiple Sclerosis--and experiments with dangerous body modifications. A girl in a red hijab leaps into the flames of a rotting convenience store--to save someone who hates her. An Asian-American 9th-grader catches a doctor poisoning his city's water supply to "cure" cancer. An Irish-American kid scarred by his alcoholic father turns his own broken, twisted psychology into a super-weapon. A restless Black girl from the South uncovers a human trafficking ring, and as she navigates the complexities of police-victim relationships, she roots out a conspiracy that could change her planet forever.

This neurodiverse, ethnically open anthology uncovers the origins of the Guardian superhero team from the highly-anticipated Becoming Hero comic-within-a-novel. Based on real teen struggles, these stories follow the team's creation as new heroes are born, built, broken, and forged.

Origins – The Guardian Anthology

From the Introduction:

"In Greek mythology, Prometheus created mankind and saved them from cold ignorance by bringing them fire. As punishment for helping humans, whom the evil rapist Zeus hated, Prometheus was bound to the top of a high mountain. There, alone for centuries but for the comfort of a passing female traveler, bitter wind gnawed at his naked flesh while every day an eagle came to feast on his liver. Suffering man, yet eternal god, pierced in his side, exposed and alone for the salvation of humanity...like the Jewish hero Yeshua, who died to bring fire to our hearts."

Physician and science fiction author Jen Finelli believes God leaves behind traces of pure Awesome in places we usually don't look. We are here to pick up the little glimmers and put them together: to study, through tarantulas, photons, Pilobilus, whatever, the true Prometheus and the fire that is life.

This is not a book about religious or scientific debate, but a daily series of mystic inspiration found in plants, DNA, vectors, and more.

Prometheus Studies

I don't usually write about sexy vampires, but when I do, I offend EVERYBODY. Spirituality. Sexuality. Drinking Blood. Warning, warning, warning.

To Refuse Blood

Whipping the Dead tells the dream-like story of a young girl, her Japanese poetry, and her 1991 Dodge Cargo Van in the Blue Ridge Mountains, where she discovers a home where the dead are held captive. It's a tribute to memory (Hence the Greek goddess, Mnemosyne) formulated after the Fibonacci sequence. Each "But" interrupting sentence follows a number of paragraphs increasing according to the sequence, a bit like a prose-style Villanelle gone overly mathematical. Pick up a copy on Amazon.

Whipping the Dead

Carl's a Puerto Rican engineering student struggling to hide his Multiple Sclerosis so he can keep working to earn enough to put himself through school. As his disease progresses, that becomes impossible--but when he invents a solution to his weakness, he soon discovers he's not the only person who could use it.

Hierro, by me, is one of the short stories in the upcoming superhero anthology by The Crossover Alliance, a small publisher committed to marrying spirituality with dark fiction. They're tired of weak "inspirational" fiction that avoids cursing and hardcore topics in the name of God--they want to deal with the real world and its real problems, while still putting unabashed faith front and center. To see reviews, head to the book's Amazon page, or see the Tangent online review at http://www.tangentonline.com/print--other-reviewsmenu-263/anthologies-reviewsmenu-107/3445-superoes-the-crossover-alliance-anthology-ed-by-david-n-alderman

You can pre-order the anthology at https://www.thecrossoveralliance.com/tca-anthology-v3; if you like me, you should know that I get royalty off the sales, so buy many copies!

Jen has dreams. Some of them are weird, like putting a comic book inside a novel and consuming it like a sandwich. Some are noble, like her fifteen year plan to get a clinic in the jungle to bring meds to folks who need it most. You have dreams, too. Buy a sister a cuppa tea for the dreams!
Happy sipping. = )
